Maddy Gair
Volunteer at JASA’s Central Office

“Mentor, Intern, Valued Office Colleague”

When there was work to be done, JASA knew who to turn to.

Retirement for this 25-year veteran of the financial industry did not translate into “not working,” and so a friend suggested that she check out opportunities with JASA. Seventy-year old Maddy Gair has now been volunteering at JASA’s headquarters for seven years, three days a week, helping out with office work wherever she’s needed.

It wasn’t long before she became JASA's go-to volunteer. In addition to office work, Maddy assists with events, including preparing materials for and assisting at JASA’s elder abuse training workshops and annual conference. Maddy’s supervisor, Ilana Mittleman says, “She is an integral part of the JASA community. We know we can depend on Maddy to get the job done.”

Since finding a welcoming home and engaging in meaningful activities, Maddy says, “JASA is the best place with the best people. It’s one family. They appreciate what you do for them. It’s wonderful to be here.”

It’s volunteers like Maddy who help keep JASA running.
